Open-Source Licences

Third-party components used in the Heads Up Android app (com.lmelabs.headsup).

Heads Up is built on several open-source libraries and a pre-trained machine-learning model. All third-party components listed below are used under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The full text of that licence is reproduced at the bottom of this page.

TensorFlow Lite

Used to run the on-device object-detection model. All inference runs locally on the device's CPU, GPU, or neural accelerator via the Android NNAPI delegate.

Provides image pre-processing and tensor-handling utilities used to prepare camera frames for inference.

MobileNet SSD v1 Object-Detection Model

Pre-trained on the COCO dataset. Used to detect objects in camera frames for proximity and direction estimation. The app uses bounding box position and approach trajectory only; object class labels are not used or stored.
